I’ve decided to try something different with this week’s newsletter. Work got in the way again and I didn’t have time to finish what I had planned to write about.
So let’s talk about these 3 things. They are not related in any way.
Small Space
If you read one of my previous posts titled, “Funniest Thing Ever”, you’ll know the area I’m talking about, but for the sake of my new subscribers, I’ll delve into it a little more.
I work in a public place where the restrooms are shared among employees and customers.
I had a funny thing happen again. I never thought something like this would happen but it did.
After my food break, I was on my way to the restroom. Depending on my shift, I usually use the restroom either once or twice. I always go at the end of my break. Other times, you can’t go because there is no one to replace you or you can’t go during certain times.
As I walked toward the restroom door, a gentleman wearing a blue plaid flannel long-sleeve shirt with another shirt underneath, walked into the business. He was making a beeline for the restroom.
He let me go ahead of him. When we entered the restroom, there was no one in there. That would soon change. LOL!
In the restroom, there are only two toilets, a sit down and a urinal. You can see the layout by looking at the graphic I designed in the beginning.
Without getting graphic here, we were both there for #1.
As I was at the urinal, a guy came in and noticed that I was there. He backed off and waited in the corner near the garbage can. As I was finishing up, another guy entered and tried the stall door. When he noticed it was locked, he waited near the stall door. Meanwhile, garbage can guy started to move up to take my position and he was in the way of me using the hand dryer. He said, “Oh sorry, ” and backed off.
So when I left, there were three guys in there.
As I exited, I saw one of my co-workers getting ready to enter the restroom. I wanted to tell him, don’t even try it, there’s a line. But I didn’t because he speaks Spanish and he doesn’t know a lot of English. Following behind him was another customer. LOL! I was laughing all the way back to the break room. 🤣
Such a small space for so many people.
Music
I thought you might be interested in what music I’ve been listening to. I listen to music a lot. I like to listen to various artists while I’m writing these newsletters. It gives me inspiration and I even think of things I can add.
While writing this newsletter, I was listening to Priscilla Block. She’s a country artist. I especially like her duet with Justin Moore called “You, Me, And Whiskey”. She’s got a lot of good songs including: “Just About Over You”, “My Bar”, “Hey, Jack”, and “Fake Names”.
She’s got good beat in her songs. Her lyrics are an A+.
If you want an easy way to listen to her, you can get a free Spotify account and start listening to her and other great singers. That’s how I do it.
Art
For those of you that didn’t see it on Notes, I posted one of my latest paintings.
This painting was based on a fire station in Bexhill-on-Sea, United Kingdom. For those that are familiar, that is on Beeching Road. You’re probably wondering how I came up with this design based on that. Unfortunately, that is an art secret! When I show off my second piece of art, I’ll explain a little more, maybe. :)
This is #1 in my “Saving Lives” Series.
Conclusion
So I hope you enjoyed this different type of newsletter. In closing, a few words:
Small Space: At this particular time and day, it was not the time to go to the restroom. I have never seen that many people in there at a time. I have seen three people before because once I had to wait in line. I was the third person. I think maybe because it was a cold day, everyone had to go.
Music: I listen to a lot of country music. There are a lot of up-and-coming artists that I think you will hear a lot about soon. You might not hear their music on the radio, but there are other ways to listen to their songs.
Art: I will be posting all my artwork on my Substack. It will all be under a different section. Hopefully, I can come up with a simple section name, maybe just art or artwork. I currently have my digital art link at the top but I’m going to be changing that. I’m working on getting a website address where I can list my artwork for sale.
I want to thank all my subscribers for being here! Without you, this newsletter wouldn’t advance as much as it has. I appreciate all the comments and likes.
If you know of anyone who would like to learn more about this Substack, please feel free to share this post with them.
Until next time, happy reading!
-Matt
Loved this post, Matt!
What made you pick Bexhill? I was there fairly recently, so your mention of it pricked my interest!
Haha re the restroom. It never rains but it pours. Grin. Love your art. A nice read. Thanks so much.
