Gosh, Matt, what an extraordinary character! People are funny, aren't they? I've enjoyed reading this post - I'm imagining running up the stairs just to look outside!

I should have noted this in the post too. As you came in the front door, the stairs were located just to the right. You went up 4 steps and there was a landing area. Then you turned to the left and went up 12 to 14 steps and there was another landing area. Then you turned to the left and went up an additional 6 steps. Then you turned to the left and went straight into one of the bedrooms and to the window. I can't tell you how many times I tripped from the landing area. It got to be kind of dangerous. And by the time I got to the top, whatever was going on was usually over.

It sounds like a funfair attraction called The house that Jack built!

I really like your drawing! Sadly, nothing surprises me about landlords. I've heard some real horror stories.

Thanks Terry! The original photo of the door contained a welcome sign. Editing it out with the clone tool was taking too long. So I thought, why don't I just draw it out. I took inspiration from your handmade drawings.

I can relate to your story about Hurricane Matthew. I experienced Hurricane Irma while housesitting for my son in Florida (2017), also a Cat 5. It was my first and (hopefully) my last!
