Welcome to Writer’s Notebook!

Psst! Hey you! Yeah, you. I’m talking to you. If you’re a writer or a reader or both, you’ve come to the right place (or is it write place? LOL!)

I love to write and I love to create art.

This is your one-stop location to find out what this newsletter is all about.

You can expect writing from these 3 niches.

The 3 Niches

1. Non-Fiction

I write stories about my past and present. These can be funny or serious. The most stories you’ll find on here are in this category. I’ve written so many stories that I’m running out of ideas. Is it possible to run out? You can only go through so many life experiences and write about it. Every once in awhile, I’ll read about another topic and it will remind me of something else to write about in my past.

2. Fiction (Section called Fiction LaunchPad)

I love creating stories from scratch. Give me a sentence, something that has happened or a scenario and I can write about anything. This is how I got started writing in the first place. I’m back writing fiction now after having taken a break from it.

I can take anything and run with it. For example, I took a real-world incident from someone on Substack and ran with it. An 845-word story has now become over 12,000 words and counting. Watch for the next few parts coming soon!

This is an endless topic and you can expect a lot of fiction as I get time to write it.

3. Abstract Art (Section called Abstract Art) - (Monthly Update)

I’ll be giving a monthly update on my Abstract Art. I’ll be displaying all of my paintings from the month before. I’ll be explaining how I came up with the painting. Eventually, I’ll have a link to the artwork on my art store website once I get it up and running.

Email and App

If you’re receiving via email or the Substack App, all 3 of these niches will appear altogether. If you’re viewing on the web, it will also appear on the main page. But you can view them from the menu bar at the top as well. This allows you to see what I have written under each topic and is easier to find without going through all 90 stories that I’m currently at.

How often do you write

I usually do a weekly newsletter. Sometimes things come up and I have to skip a week.

I want to hear from you

If you ever have any questions, comments, or just want to drop an email to me and say hello, feel free to. I love interacting with other writers and readers.

How to contact me

You can direct message me using the “Send Matthew Murray” button on any of my posts that started on my February 28, 2024 post.

I hope you enjoy your stay here!
