All paintings are painted on all sides (top, left, right and bottom)
I started a new series. It’s called “The Blind Experience”. All of the paintings I did in April are in this series.
If you remember, back on April 15th I asked you to help me pick out the colors for my next painting. Well, the voting didn’t go as planned in two different ways. First, I had thought that I would get a lot of votes. That didn’t happen, so I’ll have to rethink how I do it next time. To be exact, I got 4 votes. Second, I anticipated what color combination would be selected. So I started doing the painting with those colors, and then the unexpected happened, those colors only got 1 vote.
To refresh your memory, these were the color combinations and their placing:
North – Cacao Brown, Pink, Fl Orang - Winner
East – Orange, Apricot, Light Blue – Second Place
West – Yellow, Silver, Apple Green – Third Place
South – Blue, Green, Beige – Last Place
April 2024
The Blind Experience #1, 16 inches x 20 inches (acrylic on canvas)
This is the beginning of a new series I created called “The Blind Experience”. These are colors I like to use on my other paintings. I thought I would put these 3 together and see what I could come up with. For those that don’t know, orange is my favorite color.
The Blind Experience #2, 16 inches x 20 inches (acrylic on canvas)
The second in the series. This was done in the colors that I thought would probably win the “Pick My Next Painting Colors” post. Boy was I fooled!
It came out great. I like how the silver, apple green and yellow pop off the canvas. It’s a nice combination.
The Blind Experience # 3, 16 inches x 20 inches (acrylic on canvas)
Here is the winner of the contest. You picked Cacao Brown, Pink and Fluorescent Orange. I had to wonder how this was going to come out. When I was drawing in the initial design, I thought how is this going to come out. I wasn’t so sure once I started painting it. Secretly, I was hoping these colors weren’t picked. But you had other plans.
It came out pretty good. I’m just used to using my bright colors.
If I do a “Pick the Colors” again, I hope I pick colors that are little more bright. But this is what you get when you blindly pick into the pile. You never know what combination you’re going to come up with.
Conclusion
That’s it for the month of April.
For next month’s newsletter, I’ll be talking about two paintings in different sizes. For those I’ve gone back to my original concepts. One is a huge, labor-intensive painting I just finished last night.
If you are someone that’s interested in your own painting, I take commissions. You can contact me for details. Just DM me.
