First off, let me tell you that I started last week to write a funny story that happened recently. Then I lost all will to write the rest of it. I wasn’t feeling like I usually do when I write these stories and decided to put it off. Hopefully in a few weeks I can get to it and write it fully. When you have so much going on, it’s hard to even think about writing. With work and trying to get a business started, along with appointments, and also trying to have a life, it gets very difficult.
Welcome to the August 2024 – Abstract Art newsletter. The paintings in this month’s issue were done in July. I have three to show you. Next month, I will have four paintings as I just wrapped up my last painting yesterday.
The image behind the “August” text is once again one of the paintings you’ll see next month.
All paintings are painted on all sides (top, left, right and bottom).
Baby Dreaming of Football, 16 inches x 20 inches (acrylic on canvas)
With this painting I knew I wanted to draw a football stadium. I didn’t know what I would do with the rest of the painting at the time. As I worked with it, I created shapes using buildings, parking lots, and my own unique creations. During the process, I noticed a figure that appeared in my painting. It looked like a pregnant woman. And that is how I came up with the name of this painting. The football stadium is the one used by the Buffalo Bills.
Twist & Shout, 16 inches by 20 inches (acrylic on canvas)
Welcome to Moorabbin, VIC, Australia. This spot came to me while I was looking around the area outside of Melbourne, Australia. And this area came with a unique street name that is prevalent in my area. That was an added bonus that surprised me.
Here you have businesses and one of them is a museum named TwistED science museum. You’ll see parking lots, streets, park areas, and some creativeness on my part.
I was amazed to find out that the street Wickham Road was the southern boundary street where this town concludes. Wickham Road is our main road through Melbourne, Florida. I have travelled on that street so many times, probably thousands.
Another thing that keeps popping up in some of my paintings is a cross. While I was researching the area, I zoomed in on a street and right there on the sidewalk area along with a light pole was a cross. I went down to street level but it wasn’t there. It was meant to be that I painted this area. I added the cross in where I saw it and left it white.
Yacht’s Up, 16 inches x 20 inches (acrylic on canvas)
Welcome to Paris, France. This is Pont Rouelle. The ships you see are at the Paris Yacht Marina. The small squares you see near the middle of the painting are railroad tracks. Next to the tracks is a roadway complete with buildings next to it. The title comes from a take on “What’s Up?”.
Conclusion
It’s so fun painting these areas because I get to learn so much about these other areas. I research the area and look at what businesses are located within each location. Most of what I see appears in the painting.
Stay tuned to see where I’ll be painting next month. I’ll give you a sneak peek of what to expect: two paintings are overseas and two are from the United States.

Very cool and great work Matt. Love all the colors.
More great work, Matt! Your paintings remind me of mosaics...so colorful and bright. Are you looking to sell your work in the future?
