Now let’s enjoy some art!
This month I am bringing you paintings I did in February and March.
I did not pick anyone’s hometown in these paintings as I did in previous months. I’ll get back to those another time. Things have been hectic and I wanted to try a lot of different avenues.
All paintings are painted on all sides (top, left, right and bottom)
February 2024
Fallen Tree - 16 inches x 20 inches (acrylic on canvas)
In 2016, we were hit by Hurricane Matthew. Not me. LOL! I always wonder how they come up with the names for the hurricanes and tropical storms. In the yard between the townhouses a large tree had fallen. The root system was exposed. I like taking abstract photos as well. I thought this would be a good thing to take a photo of. I didn’t know then that I would be using it for a painting project.
The Heart of Cocoa Village, Cocoa, Florida, 16 inches x 20 inches (acrylic on canvas)
This is the top-down of the area of Cocoa called Cocoa Village. They have all kinds of little shops for your shopping pleasure. The road running from the top to the bottom is the main road that everyone travels down to get to the village and a back way to get to other shops and the causeway. It’s called Florida Avenue. Want to stop at a unique restaurant? There are a bunch of those too. I’ve been down that way before when traveling to Cocoa Village and to the library.
Daytona International Speedway Infield #1, Daytona Beach, Florida -
20 inches x 16 inches (acrylic on canvas)
Having been to Daytona Beach several years for the NASCAR Truck Series races, I have compiled hundreds if not thousands of photos. There are so many different angles within these photos to take advantage of. I’m sure this will be one of many that I create over time. I decided to make this one go the long way because it seemed to work better.
Daytona International Speedway Main Building -
20 inches x 16 inches (acrylic on canvas)
Another horizontal painting at Daytona International Speedway. This is the front of the main building. They had a few cars out front. People were mingling. Fans were entering the building to buy tickets, get their pictures taken, and peruse the memorabilia inside. Flags were rustling in the wind from the flagpoles. The ground was covered in a checkerboard scheme of black and white.
Downtown Orlando Sports Teams, Orlando, Florida - 16 inches x 20 inches (acrylic on canvas)
This is the top-down of the area of downtown Orlando near the two sports team that call Orlando home. On the bottom you have the twist and turns of Interstate 4. You’ll see some buildings too. The streets with homes wind through the area. The National Basketball Association (NBA) is represented by the Orlando Magic. Their colors are blue, black and silver. I drew the arena as close as possible (everything is freehand). I painted a basketball and a rim/net. The purple and silver stadium at the top is the Major League Soccer (MLS) team called Orlando City SC (soccer club). It has a soccer ball (which is white, so I left it unpainted) and the soccer net. The smaller squares and rectangles are cars. The really small items are cars in a parking lot. Some areas were blank, so I used my creative juices to come up with something that fit the best.
Conclusion
Well, that’s it for this month’s Abstract Art newsletter. I hope enjoyed all the paintings and color.
All the paintings are for sale with shipping in the USA only. I’ve been too busy to get my website up and running. I have to put that on the back burner for now.

Very cool. I like the speedway main building painting the best.
Very nice, Matthew!
